In 1991, the Foundation began offering all 31 students in sixth grade at Public School 140 in South Jamaica, Queens, NY, the benefits of participating in The GRADS Foundation's program.

Following is a list of the Foundation's most recently selected Cohorts:

The Foundation engages the students in a unique partnership, in which they are challenged to work diligently on their studies, pursue personal growth goals, and give back to their community through their talents and expertise.

In exchange for their commitment to self improvement, the Foundation promises:

The Foundation forges partnerships with educational and recreational institutions for academic and personal success:

  • Alfred University's summer orientation program on campus life and classroom activities
  • Caldwell College Summer Institute that encourages Student Participants to pursue a post-secondary education
  • City Parks Foundation Junior Golf Camps
  • Fordham University's Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP)
  • The Student Sponsor Partners
  • York College's Science, Engineering, Mathematics & Aerospace Academy (SEMAA)
